    No. Seriously. It's not a civil war. Georgia is an individual nation, and it is the province of Georgia called South Ossetia which is trying to break away from Georgia and become independant/join Russia. It's difficult to really say what's going to happen.


  2. It is not just languages but different peoples and cultures. There is also  historical motives and backgrounds. Caucasus is a multiethnic region. For instance Abkhazians speak a language from Caucasian family but from a different group than that of Georgians. As for Ossetians - they are descendants of the Alans speaking an Iranian language (most of them now speaking Russian too). Divided between Georgia and Russia in 1922 they already suffered several genocides during the last century.
