  1. I think the heat makes the water inside the dried corn kernel boil and this creates steam. I'm sure if this happens it create a lot of pressure and it burst. Only a guess though...I really don't have a clue.


  2. The water within the kernal of corn expands when exposed to heat, but has no where to go.  In a sense, it explodes.
