Soon i am looking to buy a car for myself at 18 and with aunt co-signing on the loan and her listed as "primary driver" to keep insurance down. However to do the "primary driver" i imagine she would have to be listed as a co-owner on the car and i don't want to have to bring her with me 400 miles if i find something. How does a dealership differ? I know at the dealership when i bought my last one she signed a paper there, wrote a check, called the insurance company and we were off. How is it different with a private party. Do you sign anything while you are there with him or does he give you the title and you do the registration in your state?
