How does "PayPal" work? On Ebay.?

Paypal is a third party who basically allows you to pay someone without giving them your credit card information.  You make a transaction with pay pal, they pay the merchant, and the merchant pays a fee.  

Basically, it protects your information from the merchant.  This is good when using ebay because a lot of the time you are paying a person.  The average person cannot just process a credit card payment.  With paypal, they can (for a fee of course).
