Personally, I think Skype is AWESOME!  You can download the program at their website.  It enables you to speak to people anywhere in the world for free.  All you need to do is purchase a phone or headset and you are good to go.  I got a headset for $15 at Target.  Skype saved my life when my best friend joined the peace corps and went to Nicaragua for a year.  Since she didn't have a cell phone there and phones were so expensive, we each used Skype and we could talk with crystal clear reception for hours on end for free.  I can talk to my family now that live out of the USA for free as well.  When reception is at its best, it feels like you are in the same room with that person.
