Like what effect does it have on balls, racquets, bounce, etc. Furthermore does it matter at all for playing recreationally or does the rain just make it essentially unplayable.

  1. 1. Playing tennis in light rain is possible and shouldn't pose much of a problem. However, when the rain starts to pick up the court becomes very slippery (hard courts and grass in particular) and the lines become especially dangerous. That is why the suspend professional outdoor tennis matches, to prevent injuries.

    2. Water will also affect the balls themselves making them heavier. They will begin to play slower when wet/damp because they are weighed down by water and because they will travel slower through the moist air.

  2. freaks up the court; u cant play after it rains the courts have to dry up

  3. If you play indoors the rain doesn't do any damage to the game...I haven't noticed any difference when it rains, honestly. I have played in the rain before, and the only difference was the ball seemed a little deader than normal.

  4. 1. make the balls heavier

    2. make the courts slippery

  5. Captain is right.  Unless you're playing on clay which isn't as bad and is actually watered down during tournaments.
