  1. 1.  Voting Patterns.  Conservative voters tend to be more religious than liberal voters.  Red states / Blue states.

    2.  The passage of local laws can be influenced by religion.  Municipalities and counties can prevent the sale of tobacco and alcohol, for instance.

    3.  Entire denominations (like the Mormons) can locate in an area and determine laws and practices of an entire region.

  2. It doesn't! How  could it? Geography is the study of the earth's surface and its natural features. Religion cannot effect the geography of the earth.

Now to expound on Cultural Geography... which studies the  characteristics of the people in a location, such as language, predominant religion and ethnic/racial group(s), education, life style ...etc.

OR...the study of people and their ways of life (also known as human geography).

As an anthropologist I happen to disagree entirely with these definitions and their intent. Both are relatively new in concept and have been squarely and soundly within the disciplines of anthropology for over 100 years. This is an attempt by persons untrained in the study of man to usurp a discipline from another science.
