How does safety in Tokyo compare to New York and London?

As far as big cities go, New York is by far one of the safest, and probably THE safest in the US. London isn't quite so safe, but still reasonably ok providing you keep yourself to yourself and stay out of dangerous areas. On the whole, where does Tokyo come in comparison to these cities? Is it as safe as New York?

The only place in Tokyo I don't really feel safe at all times is Roppongi (other than high-security buildings like Roppongi Hills).

That being said, I've never hung around places like Sanya at night.

Tokyo is safer than NYC.Take a look at the criminal charts.

Tokyo is the most safety of all.

They have no hand guns except gangsters.

Gangsters are indifferent to foreginers.

Dangerous areas have special smellings all over the world.   lol.

New York City safe ? I don't think so. Tokyo by far is the safest of all three. Please, do some research.

Even in Tokyo there are some schizoids and sickos but is no firearms society truly. Ordinary Japanese have no weapon both public and private except kitchen knife.

That means, however, if you want to protect yourself completely, you always need to pay attention much more than holding firearms and some skill of self defence martial arts such as Karate or Jyudo.

London is far from safe. I`m from Britain and don`t feel safe going out after its started to turn dark. I`m in Tokyo now and you can walk around areas and feel so safe.Everyone is soo friendly. I don`t know about New York but I can honestly say Tokyo is the biggest cityI`ve ever felt safe in.

I don't know where you heard the N.Y. was the safest city in the U.S. but it is not.

Tokyo and most Asian cities are safer than New York.
