How does she go about finding a new place to live.?

I have a friend that has been going through a divorce and has been living on unemployment. She just found out 2 days ago that the apt she lives in will not be renewing her lease because of her being late on payment for the last 2 months and 2 bounced checks. She just got a full time job today and starts tomorrow. She tried to get into another apt but because of a bad reference from her currant apt she didn't get in. My question is how does she go about finding a home? She is stuck and doesnt know where she is going to go. Housing is an option but the list is so long that they wont get to her in time for her to move out. The state she lives in is Wisconsin if anyone has any ideas on what she can do it would be helpful. She also has a little boy and is going through a custody battle.

She can apply at other apartments just tell her not to put her current apartment on the application cause they will only give her a bad reference. She needs to tell them this is her 1st time renting

Best option may be family or friends. She should also contact the county and see if there is a program out there to help her.
