How does silicon lubricant relate to friction?

this is for my science assignment on friction. we have three options- silicon lubricant, graphite lubricant, and oil lubricant- which one is the easiest? i have to write a half page report on it.

  1. Focus on the physical attributes of the material. Friction creates heat, and heat is conducted. Silicone doesn't conduct heat as well as oilbased lubricants so it keeps the surfaces cooler.

    it also doesn't change viscosity and the density remains constant. Research further on google if you need more factual data about silicone.


  2. start with silicone, rather than silicon.  great difference in molecular structure.  Generally, silicones and their flat structure work like graphite without the ugly black carbon.
