Socialization is the process we go through to become functioning members of our society.  Our culture is the organizing set of values and principles that mold our societies.

The cultural anthropologist, Robin Fox, said in "Encounter with Anthropology" that all cultures are massive con jobs.  By this me meant that it is impossible to keep people cooperating in a functioning society without systematically deceiving them.

Based on the "traditional" uses of these terms, one could say that through socialization "culture" is defined.  Likewise, through culture "socialization" becomes an active process as defined by the particular culture.  Currently, however, with so many of the "distinct" cultural lines now blurred and socialization rules becoming less clear as well, I believe the traditional approach to sociological thought needs to be revamped.

The entire human race engages in conflict daily.  It is speeding up.  Cultures merge and communicate in a way never  imaginable to any ancient society.  We could end up anywhere!
