  1. solar cells convert light energy into electrical energy...while gas power stations convert heat energy produced by gases into electrical energy...!

  2. also some solar power stations use the suns rays to heat water. the steam then rushes round a system and turns a turbine. this turns the magnet in the wire. this make electricity.

gas can be burned to heat water to do the same purpose. although why they can't send the gas itself around the sustem i don't know.

  3. The light photons knock an electron loose in the semi-conductor silicone wafer of the solar cell.   The electron then travels down a wire to your computer.   Gas power stations either boil water to make steam or use the exhaust gasses from burning the gas to turn a turbine.    As the turbine goes around it passes groups of magnets over a copper coil which produces electric current.
