but her is my guess:

This person enjoys writing and has a greater writing ability than others.

He/She probably wrote for the local magazine or newspaper in their town.

And has entered many contests and written articles online.

He/She might have been noticed in some of the articles he/she has written and had time to write or talk to a famous person working for a major magazine.

And was asked to become an intern for their magazine.

If he/she has suceeded then he'she might have written a resume and sent it to London or Paris for a job interview.
