How does someone run for mayor in their community?

I live in Toledo, Ohio. I feel like my city is dying, and I also feel like I can make a huge difference if I can just get started. I want to connect with people and make a change. I was raised in a blue-collar family, and I think it's about time they get something back from the community. Any suggestions?

I just Googled "how to run for office" and came up with a LOT of topics. I'd sift through them. You might find something useful. You could also call your city administration office and ask the question there.
