Question:

How does someone transfer money into my account?

Someone owes me money. How does she transfer money into my account? I have been waiting so long for my money and i believe she is now lying to me.

She said she has written a cheque but when she told me the details she put i saw that she put the wrong account number. So recently she has told me that she has gone to the bank to cancel the cheque and that the bank told her it will take 3 weeks. Also, apparently her account is on hold because of this 'wrong' cheque. can this happen?

And now i've realised that if she has written a cheque, doesn't she need to give me the cheque she has written and i give it to the bank to put into my account?

I believe this person is lying to me, but i need others opinions until i start getting aggressive. Is there any other way of this person transferring her money to my account?

My knowledge in this area is not very good, evidently. i believe this person is not telling the truth, but i need to get my facts straight first!

Please help!

  1. the only way she could transfer the money is if you give her your bank details and i don't think you want to do that.the safest way is for you to get cash of her.

  2. She if definitely lying to you.

A personal cheque made payable to you wouldn't have your account number on it only your name.

She would have to give it to you to pay into your account

One bank would never know if an account number for a different bank is correct.

The money wouldn't leave her account until YOU cashed it, therefore they wouldn't know that a cheque has been written and couldn't block her account.

Cash would be the best way, (or get another cheque)

If it has to be a transfer to safest way is to use a savings account that can't have Direct Debits (most savings accounts are like this) then all she can do is set up a payment into the account and can't take money out. You will need to get an account number, sort code, and possibly a reference number from your bank

  3. tell her to cancel the cheque and send you a postal order from the post office,

  4. a routing number and account number should do the job. tell her go to the bank and wire you the money.
