Hi im doing a little project and upon research i found that Africas rainfall can be predicted using sunspot data. knowing this i found rainfall data In maryland dating back to 1948 till now and correlating US sunspot data, as this is the representtion of sun activity. I noticed that peeks and valleys seemed to correlate constantly excpet during time of strong El Nino and La Ninia events but in the end the peeks and valleys allways fell back into a unified movment. The problem im having is why does this correlation exist?! i cant find anything about why sunspots would cause more rain no matter how hard i search. Id appreciate if someone will give me an answer with a little bit of fact behind it please no big argument over global warming due to sunspots just an answer.

Causal linkages between variations in solar activity

and climatic responses – the final proof?

    WJR Alexander, Professor Emeritus,

Department of Civil and Biosystems Engineering, University of Pretoria, South Africa

Below in the second site is a pretty interesting documentation of sunspots and their correlation to rainfall.

The IPCC contended that the variations between the sunspots and normal solar activity were not enough to merit consideration.   In otherwords,  they denied a causal relationship between sunspots and an increase in rain.

Professor Alexander demonstrates below that there is and you can draw your conclusions from that...

    Best wishes..
