  1. teletext is actually a broadcast the same as a normal tv program, so it is not "updated" as such, just broadcast in real time, which is why after you enter a page number you have to wait a short while until that particular page is broadcast again. after choosing a page some tv sets also have a very small buffer to allow you to store a few pages and flick through them in your own time after they have been broadcast. In the uk the amount of lines of resolution that make up your tv picture is 576, but your tv set actually recieves 625 lines of information, it is the 49 lines in between frames (after the initial 576 lines have been shown as a picture, and before the next frame starts) that carries the teletext information. I apologise if that was a c**p explanation, but i've just woken up :-p

  2. The Information is sent along with the Soundtrack at the TOP of the Television Screen !

  3. It's weird, I still prefer Teletext to pressing the Red button - quality and not quantity I suppose. I think it's like when you suck the mush from a slush puppy through a straw - you get some juice, you get some ice. That's how the UHF television signal is sent to one channel - the juice is regular TV, the ice is the teletext, Bubble gum flavour is ITV with teletext and Cherry flavour is BBc with Ceefax. I could elaborate with complex UHF band-wave explanations, but that would bore both of us, and Slush puppy analogies are all we need to have a good time.

  4. It's caused by magic from an ethereal plane, far beyond the comprehension of mere mortals.
