How does the Canadian grade system work, school wise??

I mean like is it

Kindergarten - Age 5

Middle School - Age 12

  1. In Canada the school system works like this:

    - You start Junior Kindergarden at age four (so this year alll kids born in 2004), however if you are born in September through December you will still be three years old because unlike the US we divide by year, not by month (all students born January through December are in the same grade, unless held back)

    - Many places, if not most, don't have middle schools, inculding were I live so I can't tell you much about those (it varries depending which province and which bord your in)

    - We start high school in grade nine (freshman as they say in the US) at age 14, unless your birthday is September though December because you won't have had your birthday yet and will still be thirteen

    - If there is middle school it's usually for grade seven and eight
