Question:

How does the Democratic delegate system work?

Could someone explain it thoroughly? I think the super delegates are the congressmen and Senators, right, and they don't have to endorse a candidate but normals candidates do, right?

Can someone explain EVERYTHING to me? (The Democratic one) Please, explain everything in good detail.

  1. In theory, each candidate gets a potion of the delegates from each state based on the share of votes they received in that states primaries.  These delegates are SUPPOSED to vote for that candidates at the national convention.  I addition, the Democrats have 'super delegates'.  These are people chosen for their position within the party 'leadership' and are free to vote however they want.  NEITHER Obama or Clinton has enough delegates to win the nomination without super delegates.

What I consider a more acurate answer is: It DOESN'T work.
