Apparently the highest recorded temperature in the Worlds history was in 1922 Libya, a steaming 136 degrees farenheit.

This in a place and time when none of the usual suspects of global warming existed.

  1. Under global warming, extreme heat events become more likely, while extreme cold events become less likely.  This effect has already been seen and for most locations it is more likely that new maximum temperatures are set than new minimum temperatures. As for the world record temperature, an event like that is of course extremely rare (that's why it's  the record), so it may be a very long time before that record is broken. Also, global warming is a statement about average temperatures, not necessarily extremes.  There are some reasons to think it may be difficult to break the world maximum record: it requires intense sunlight, but there is general global dimming of sunlight due to increased dust in the air, also, as global mean temperature goes up the humidity goes up too, and very high temperatures require low humidity.

  2. Anomalies exist.  That record will be broken in the next 20 years, if not the next 10.  Besides, global warming is about consistent higher temps, not a single day.

  3. ok well even thought global warming didn't technically start till recently, the planet has had extremes. for instance, death valley always has temperatures of over 110 degrees Fahrenheit every year, also it has it extreme lows, such as in 1983 at the Vostok Station in Antarctica. the temperature at this station recorded a new world record low of -128.56 degrees Fahrenheit. so this was no to recent, but this is also when global warming was starting. so even before a global warming event started we have extreme temperature events. also global warming is determined by the increasing average global surface temperature, not just by severe spikes in temperature.
