How does the MLS work?

Im English and follow british football and know how the leagues and competitions work here but how does the MLS work? What are the best teams other than LA Galaxy?

There is one league with an east and west division. There is no promotion and relegation system so the same teams are in the same division every year. To get into the league you must be approved and buy a franchise. They have a draft system which means that the bottom teams get the first pick of the best young players coming out of college. They also have a wage cap which means for instance. If the wage cap is a Million dollars and the team pay one player five hundred thousand, they only have five hundred thousand left to pay the other players.

I'm from England but now live in North America and in my book their system is S**t. I still follow the English football. I find MLS boring as f*ck without promotion and relegation. The quality of football is not that good either.

the LA Galaxy, are one of the most hated teams, not even doing well, and many other supporters hate them b/c theyre full of posers who get there to see beckham. but others in the league have amazing fan support, incredible players, and new stadiums are being built for each team. the MLS is in America and Canada now, being the top league in North America. more teams coming btw (Philly, Seattle, Portland, Montreal, St Louis, Vancouver) so we'll see in the future. Im a Toronto FC supporter, and we've got a rivalry with Columbus, whose fans were accused of racism at its games. we brough 3,000 + supporters in columbus in the beggining of this year, and plan to make it the main event next year.

Even though there will be a single table in the future, we are stuck with this traditional american system with East, with 7 teams in each region. learn more in the sites i gave you. any more questions just ask.
