  1. it just does

and if you, you in particular dont do somthing we are gonna FRY!

  2. Well, basically, it has to do with carbon dioxide and whatnot in the ozone layer.

Naturally there is already a layer there which is beneficial for the Earth, keeping it warm.  When heat from the sun hits the Earth, some of it is reflected back into space, while some of it is trapped by the layer of carbon dioxide.

However, due to global warming, more heat is being trapped, causing the planet's temperature to quickly rise.

This is because there is an increasing level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which is trapping more and more heat.  This carbon dioxide is coming from numerous sources, naturally and man made.

So basically, it goes like this.  Natural layer of ozone which keeps the Earth moderate in temperature.  Humans+Nature are making more carbon dioxide, adding to this layer.  More heat is kept in, leading to global warming.

  3. global warming is probably something that scientists of today still don't completely understand. i believe that it is a cycle. the earth warms up and cools off sort of like the four seasons. i don't believe that in another fifty years we are all gonna fry because in the nineteen seventies the worlds "top scientists" thought the world was in global cooling! science is not consensus. i dont care what "top scientists" are saying or "a mojority of scientists" are saying because science is not consensus. if it was the world would still be flat, and the sun would be revolving around the world. so, i think its the cooling and heating cycle, which has not been intensly researched simply because the global warming campaign has brought Al Gore and other "leading Scientists" a bunch of money.

  4. Well, the logic is that if we use more and more electricity, the carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) released stays in the Earth's atmosphere and causes the greenhouse effect, coupled with the vicious carbon monoxide released from vehicles and the chlorofluoro carbons (CFCs) from appliances like ACs and refridgerators.

The greenhouse effect means that the rays from the sun come from space and most of them don't get reflected back to space because of the greenhouse gases. This causes the planet to heat up and melt the ice caps (near the poles). This will soon cause rise in water levels. We'll soon be swimming then...

  5. 350 W/m2 naturally is transferred to the atmosphere.  Humans add 1.6 W/m2 and despite the loony faith of the believers, there is no reason to think that 351.6 W/m2 creates an imbalance in the "energy budget" of the Earth.

They don't fully understand all the cooling processes, but you won't hear that here.

  6. One of the best and most complete answers I have seen is on JunkScience.com which is devoted to opposing incompetent science in the media.

I could give you many more, but this is a starting point.

  7. no one is really sure how are planet even works yet this whole thing might just be because of the increase of technologies of the past 50 years  no one even knew how weather was made until 100 years ago when all this started who knows the earth could have been doing this for hundreds of years we just didn't know until now cause we dint have the technology to see it happening. but if global warming is real its moving alarmingly fast so unless we do something about now are date of death will be the year 2050 if we don't do something by that time scientists say it will be to late and we will have to live with the changes and plus global warming may not extinct the human race just make it harder to live and less people will be able to live until we completely adapt to the climate and evolve but that may take hundreds or even thousands of years  ... all that we know is that if it doesn't stop it will change the course of evolution for ever.

  8. Very simple our sun is a variable output star and when it damps down things get cold, when it ramps output up things get hot. The greenhouse effect keeps us from freezing at night during the cold periods and acts to keep excess heat out during hot periods. It is a balancing effect that makes life on this planet possible.

  9. All objects emit radiation because of their temperature. This is called "black body" radiation.

The Sun, or any object at a temperature of 6000 K, emits most of its energy in the visible spectrum. The Earth, or any object at 285 K, emits most of its energy in the infrared part of the spectrum.

Some gases in the air are called "greenhouse gases". These are gases, like water vapor and carbon dioxide, that are transparent to visible light (from the Sun), but absorb infrared light (from the Earth).

When visible light from the Sun hits the earth, it zips through the atmosphere, hits the earth, and warms the earth. The earth emits some of this energy back out into space, keeping the planet cool. But the energy we emit is in the infrared, and some of that is absorbed by greenhouse gases in the air instead of going back out into space. When that happens, the air gets warmer -- and the planet as a whole gets warmer too.

We humans used to burn wood for fuel. When we burned wood, the carbon dioxide we were releasing was the same carbon dioxide that the tree extracted from the air when it was growing; so the net effect was zero: as long was we planted a new tree to take the place of the old one, no "extra" carbon dioxide got into the air.

But since about 1750, when the steam engine was invented, we have been burning coal, oil, and other fossil fuels at faster and faster rates. This has released a lot of new carbon dioxide into the air, carbon that hasn't been in the atmosphere for millions of years. Right now, there is more carbon dioxide in the air than at any time in the last 20 million years or more. This has caused more and more of the earth's cooling radiation to be absorbed by the air, warming the planet.

  10. we write books (ignore the paper we rape the trees for)

then we brow beat you into feeling guilty for driving to work at our symposiums(ignore our private jets) and for heating and cooling your houses (ignore our insanly large mansions with 30's tech. windows, doors and rooves)

then we collect carbon tax on your breath.
