    pretty interesting stuff, actually.

  2. Danny...

What you see in this video happens in all 3 locks: Gatun with 3 sets of chambers, Pedro Miguel with 1 set of chambers and Miraflores with 2. Here you are watching the upper chamber (level) of Miraflores Locks.

Next one is the whole trip from Pacific Ocean (south) to the Caribbean Sea (north) 75 seconds of video that is actually 8+ hours of trip. From Miraflores Locks to Pedro Miguel Locks to Gatun Locks.

Now this one explains a little more having the south end of Miraflores Locks as the scenery.

Now I believe you can understand whatever you read about the Panama Canal.

    Good Luck!!

  3. The Panama Canal looks like stairs. As you know there are Sea level Canals which are the normal ones( Suez Canal) and the lock Canal which is the Panama Canal. Imagine that each step of the stairs is a chamber and the chambers form the locks.

When the ship arrives from the Atlantic or Pacific, they will enter to this chambers and the level of the water will rise. Then, the ship will enter to another chamber and the level of the water will rise again. Later, the ship will pass through the Gatun lake and at the end there are a series of chambers that will low the level of the water. It looks like stairs for me hehehe.

Check the website, it is better if you see it.
