I'm been in the Army Reserves since 04'. My unit is so disoriented I have to come here to ask.

I want to go to college, I understand how to get started. I was told you can use your G.I bill and tuition assistance simataneously. True?

If so can you also utilize the SLRP? Mine is 10,000. How does that work and go into affect?

Do I just go to VA in the college and request SLRP or is something I must go to my commander about? Also do I get one lump sum to purchase things for school or is it issued on a card? I need to know every detail about this obviously ;P

  1. The Army Reserve SLRP works different from the Regular Army SLRP, you can take out loans after you enlist in the USAR, and the USAR SLRP will pay them back.

Make sure that any loans you take out qualify.

Yes you can use TA and MGIB at the same time.

I would talk to a recruiter, they usually know all of this stuff.

  2. SLRP Only works for qualifying loans you already had when you enlisted.   Not all loans qualify for SLRP.  NO private loans do at all.  you cannot get SLRP on loans you take out after you enlist.

in most cases you must use up TA before you can use the GI Bill.

TA is paid directly to the school.  the GI Bill is paid to you as long as you meet the requirements.
