  1. They:

    Collect taxes.

Supervise the maintenance of public works such as roads and bridges.

    Administer the various government agencies.

Audit the spending of government agencies to ensure that my tax dollars were spent in an appropriate manner.

Bureaucrats are the 'worker bees' of governments.

  2. LOL.  I remeber once going to the tax office.  I was the only one there and went up to the counter.  They told me that I needed to walk back through the maze at located at the other end of the rope and take a number before they would wait on me.  Not a big deal, but asinine nonetheless.

  3. LOL, I'm a teacher...So US bureaucracy sometimes gets in the way of me teaching my kids the RIGHT way.  :)  One quick example- we are now being mandated (my school district) to teach grammar using a program that scholarly peer-reviewed journals have found to be "detrimental to students."  I won't go into details about all the bureaucracy involved in that decision, but I'm pretty sure that bureaucrats are just people who find ways to convince other bureaucrats that their unnecessary job is very necessary...and that's the gist of their jobs.

  4. Big government stinks, it costs too much and it takes ungodly amounts of time for them to do anything.
