  9. Preschool is not mandatory.  In some communities, even kindergarten is still optional.

In the US, children start kindergarten when they are 5 years old.  Most school districts will have a "cut-off date" near the beginning of the school year; a child has to have their 5th birthday before the cut-off in order to enter school.

Elementary schools are for grades K through 5th grade or 6th grade depending on the community. An elementary school that ends with 5th grade is usually followed by Middle School, which contains 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.  In other locations, elementary school ends at 6th grade and is followed by Junior High, which is 7th and 8th grades.

High schools are grades 9 through 12.  Most students graduate from high school in the spring of the year that they turn 18.

University or college will follow high school, but again that is an optional part of your education.

  10. It doesn't.

  11. elementary school is k-6, middle school 7-8, high school 9-12, and then college/university

  12. Kindergarten,

Then depending on how you did in Kindergarten you might go to something called "Junior first" or else you go to first grade.  Junior first is for kids that can't quite handle full first grade.

Then it's elementary 1st-5th, some schools are 1st-6th, just depends on the school district.

Then it's Junior High School 6th through 8th, or 7th and 8th, again depending on the school.  My wife who went to Highschool in hawaii though, called Junior High school "Intermediate school"

    Then it's high school 9th-12th

  13. K, 1-6, 7-8, 9-12

  14. K,1,2,3,4,5 grade school

    6,7,8 middle school

    9,10,11,12 high school

    college
