  1. Out of total chemical fertilizer applied only 27-30% of it could be used by crop and rest remain in soil for further physico-chemico- and microbio- damage. Remaining chamical forms chelates that are unavailable to plants and remain in soil which with rain water goes to water table causing pollution.

Same is the case with pesticides.

These chemicals leads to loss of soil fertility leading to pollution due to disturbed eco-system.

Secondly during production of these chemicals manufacturing industry do produce a lot of pollutants.

  2. Both organic and inorganic fertilizers contains some traces of toxic trace elements apart from their main constituents, these undergoes leaching thereby polluting the underground water body, phosphorus cause eutrophication of water reserves, pesticides and herbicides applied on the farm contains significant amount of pollutants like heavy metals, animal manure used in the farm also contains traces of toxic trace elements, all this undergo leaching or surface runoff thereby contaminating the water bodies

  3. RUN OFF FROM CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZER.

  4. Agriculture as an industry contributes just like any other industry; release of (untreated or treated to a degree below the desired limit) wastewater , this can be done to surface water bodies or on lands below which are unconfined groundwater bodies (regardless of the amount of wastewater disposed, the quantity can be small but its concentration of a certain hazardous chemical can be high), and since the main agricultural industry focus is on pesticides and fertilizers (which are usually salts and soluble) this increases the chance of their leaching and polluting groundwater bodies.

  5. The problem is in the run off of the fertilizers and weed control chemicals.  Many fields have drainage ditches or creeks that feed into larger bodies of water.

  6. yep fertilizer and pesticide runoff
