  1. matter is any chemical substance, compound, mixture or element in either solid, liquid or gas state. All matter is made of elements, which are made of protons, neutrons and electrons.

    Air fits this definition because it is a mixture of oxygen, nitrogen and some other elements in gas state.


  2. The air we breathe has mass (pressure- 14 psi- pounds per square inch) and takes up space.
