  1. its really all about speed, its why the americans are always timing every qaurter mile, they tend to almost lie down on the horses neck hence becoming more aerodynamic, its all they care about, pure speed.american racing is very hard on the horses i mean running them on dirt? whats all that about ? see a real horsemans race in the melbourne cup, prix de larc de triomphe or the english and irish classics

  2. american jockies ride with thier stirrups higher and more of a squated posistion.....also  in US  jocks arent allowed to raise the whip above shoulder level, so its more of a back and forth motion than the rounded "whirly bird" style

  3. a lot of american racing is done on dirt... were oz and nz is mostly on turf,

some states in america allow some drugs (steriods) (assex) those substances are banned in oz and nz,

american jockeys ride a litte different to....... EXAMPLE, kent dourmasoux the jockey for big brown recently in the kentucky derby, the preakness and the belmont stakes sat 3 and 4 wide the whole race, those kind of riding tactics are un heard of in oz and nz, if that was blake shinn or corey brown they would get an a*rse kicking!
