  2. Land area = 148.8 x 10^6 square km = 5.747 x 10^7 square miles = 29.17%

    Ocean area = 361.3 x 10^6 square km = 13.95 x 10^7 square miles = 70.83%

Note: this is the SURFACE area of the planet, however:

Volume of Earth (including oceans) = 1.083 x 10^12 cubic km

    Volume of Oceans = 1.35 x 10^9 cubic km

Therefore the oceans represent only 0.12% of the Earth by volume.

  3. the earth is about 70% water and 30% land.

  4. Earth is 71% water.
