Ive been reading things about the 09 Lancer Ralliart and it says it has the TC-SST transmission that operates in fully automatic modes for Normal and Sport driving conditions. How does this compare to a regular Automatic car...is it the same?(just put it into drive and go)...How does Twin Clutch-SST work?? im asking because my brother is getting one and i only know how to drive automatic...thank you!! :)

  1. The twin clutch system is actually awesome. As the name implies, the car has two clutches. The onboard computer does a lot of the work for you. In a regular automatic system, as your car accelerates and changes gears, you can actually feel the gears change. In a twin clutch system, the gears are divided into odd and even gears. The odd gears have one clutch and so does the even gears. As gears change from odd to even or vice versa one clutch disengages as the other engages in one seamless fashion. In doing so,  gear changes are barely felt. Like I said, the computer does a lot of the work. If you're familiar with the sportronic transmission, it's pretty much the same but better...so much better!!!

P.S. Sportronic transmission can work as a full automatic or manual auto. The driver can manually change gears by sliding the shifter to the right (or left) on "drive" mode. This will allow you to manually shift the car.
