  1. Standing or lying, the leg pressures will be higher. It's more usual to take the blood pressure at the ankle (posterior tibial aa.) as a screening tool, taking the more proximal pressure only if the former is abnormal.

    An ankle/brachial ratio of about 1.5 is normal, and <1.0 is generally pathologic.
