  1. in our body, many reactions keep taking place... stomach churns out the food, heart keeps pumping blood, and many more activities take place... for all these to take place, we need energy, and for that, food needs to be oxidized...during oxidaton, energy is brought out, this energy helps in the activities and at the same time helps in regulating body temperature

  2. The vagus nerve in the back of the neck is your thermostat.  It controls respiration and temperature.  Thus long hair is warmer in winter, short hair cooler in summer, turtlenecks help keep you warm in winter, no-collars keep you cooler in summer.

The vagus nerve is the only nerve in the body that bifurcates and travels as far down as your trunk organs.

  3. Thermoregulation is the ability of an organism to keep its body temperature within certain boundaries, even when temperature surrounding is very different. This process is one aspect of homeostasis.

The hypothalamus is the thermoregulation center. When the body is hot, vasodilation and sweating help to release the heat. When the body is cold, blood flow to the skin is restricted. The hairs are erected to provide better insulation. When it is necessary, shivering causes muscle contraction to generate heat.

  4. Your body regulates it's temp in many ways..

    1. In heat : your body will sweat - thus lowering  body temp

    2. In cold: (pretty cool) Your body focuses on keeping the bloodflow to your vital organs (heart/lungs brain etc) That is why your toes and fingertips get so cold!

    hope that helped
