    Although its original draft was intended to confer citizenship status to the recent slaves after the Civil War, its broad-based language guarantees that YOUR citizenship rights cannot be rescinded or revoked.  In fact, the 14th Amendment has been cited numerous times in Supreme Court decisions reflecting on Equal Protection Under the Law for ALL citizens, as well as foreigners under state jurisdiction.
