Do the two horses that tied both payout for show or does no one win a bet for show?

  1. Paramutual betting holds a pool of money that is bet on each betting proposition. Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Trifecta, etc.

    The money is distributed between the winning tickets. So in case of a "dead heat" for show, all the show tickets are paid out an equal amount. It adds a great number of tickets, diluting the payout a lot !! The same is for the exotic pools like the pick six, etc. In case of an exacta the same rules apply. Holders of "box tickets" win both bets, so their payout is double.
