With regards to the 'American Dream'. Please be specific and mature as possible. I want to know what others think because it's interesting...

  1. Your question is a bit vague but ask yourself why America is such a wealthy country!! Capatilism and putting profit before morality. The people in power are ruthless and care only about wealth and power. Politicians know that millions of people are dying because of their greed. Recently, the World Bank has privitised water schemes in Africa which means if you don't have money you don't get water so you die. They are aware of this fact but money comes before morality. Also research on how rich George bush has become since the invasion of Iraq. Every time a bomb is dropped, he gets richer, FACT!

  2. Some ppl try to participate in the rat race, but just can`t make it, no matter how they try. So they`re turning to crimes. All to accumulate as much wealth/money as possible. Society creates a constant pressure to become successfull, to be a have-not is seen as a failure.

  3. I can't get past figuring out where you see the American economy as dominant.

  4. The "American Dream" used to be having a home with 2 cars, and 2.4 children, having enough money to feed yourself and being able to afford a vacation in the summer time or whenever.

People began to believe that they were "ENTITLED" to this dream instead of having to WORK for it so they found ways to manipulate the system in order to reach the dream.  No group has been excluded from this manipulation which includes cheating on tax returns, stealing money from government coffers, telling lies to gain public office, dealing drugs, the list goes on and on.  Crime is not limited to drug dealing or stealing. It includes diverting money from pension funds of workers, making bad investments with same and more.  Finally, some people are of the mind that just keeping up with the Jonses is not enough. They need to have MORE than the Jonses so will go into debt to have the bigger house, the better cars and so on.   When one is spiritually sick or bankrupt, it is much easier to have the "quick fix" of material things than to search ones soul.
