  1. They give you surround sound.  You have to connect your DVD player and TV outputs to the Home Theater input.  The Home Theater can decode the front/back/left/right/center/more channels for some great sounding surround sound.  You just have to provide your own DVD player.


  2. Your question is kind of strange.  Most HT systems with good AV receivers have lots of extra connections for HD Cable box's, Sat box's, external DVD players, xBox, etc.

    You hook the video cables to the Tv and the audio cables to the receiver and .. it works.
