  1. They rank em by the good the bad and the ugly.  All infantry are the ugly.  You don't mess with em!

  2. Bwahahaha!!!

Wow...I never knew "grunt" was a rank...what military have I been in???

    That's a "nickname," not rank.

  3. Enlisted Ranks

    Private

    Private First Class

    Lance Corporal

    Corporal

    Sergeant

    Staff Sergeant

    Gunnery Sergeant

    First Sergeant/Master Sergeant

    Sergeant Major/Master Gunnery Sergeant

    Limited Duty Officers

    Warrant Officer

Chief Warrant Officer 2 thru 5

    Unrestricted Duty Officers

    2nd Lieutenant

    1st Lieutenant

    Captain

    Major

    Lieutenant Colonel

    Colonel

    Generals 1 to 5 stars

A grunt is term of endearment for Infantry (a job specialty).

You basically need to serve so much time in each rank before qualifying the next.  As you get higher and higher, it becomes a question of how many billets they have open for the job you are in.

As per positions of grunts -

    Riflemen

    Fireteam Leader

    Squad Leader

    Platoon Sergeant
