  1. LA, California  & New York to name a few have a RAT & Mouse problem.  Cats are good for that.

Dogs can become vicious when hungry.  Not a good thing.  Animals can spread desease ...rabies.

As long as these animals are owned and taken care of they can be a very good thing.  Dogs get people to excersize them and the owners get excersise to boot.  Cats help with the rodent problem and both they and dogs are good company.  They aide in welness of various types for their owners.

    I hope this helps.

  2. they kill many predators of insects

such as iguanas ,birds, lizards,so that their food walks around and multiplies

when you see a lot of caterpillars and a lot of eaten leaves ,it is a sign that too many kids with slingshots ,cats and dogs have been killing the predators

Bill Molisson  the father of Permaculture said that neither cats nor dogs had a place in this Philosophy,he also said it was the most difficult to bring this across to the people

  3. A cat killed the last individual of a bird species on an island that had a lighthouse on it. It was the lighthouse worker's cat, and he let it run free. Overpopulation of cats means there are more outside hunting endangered and threatened songbird species that already have enough trouble from cowbirds and other parasitic animals.

An overpopulation of dogs and cats in general means more gas spent by animal control officers trying to pick up strays, more energy spent on keeping the abandoned ones alive in a shelter. It can also mean a more rapid spread of disease like rabies.

  4. Australia has a wild cat problem you may be able to get some info that way
