How does the p2 hvx 200 compare to DVX 100b

especially in low lights - is P2 better than DVX 100 and PD170?

  1. P2 is the format, not the imaging system.

    The PD170 has the best low light of this bunch, mainly because it is a standard def camera fitting less pixels onto the same size of sensor at the HVX200, each pixel is bigger and catches more light.

    The HVX200 is hi def, the DVX100 and PD170 aren't.

    The HVX can record at variable frame rates (i.e. transport rate, can record in slow or fast motion)  to use the full 1080p HD on the HVX you need to use P2 cards, for standard def or 720p you can use DVCPRO cassettes.
