  1. It depends on the age(s) of the children, the resources at your disposal, your space and how many children will be in your care.

Check these resources for a starting point:

    http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art4...

    http://www.ncrel.org/sdrs/areas/issues/s...

  2. The layout of the classroom ensures that all can get around safely and see the board

Having things labeled and always put back in the same place helps them to find things when they want them

Having the play areas set out with all the accessories mans that the child can go and play with it without having to ask for help

All activities must be appropriate for the child's age and stage

  3. If john wants to paint and can't reach the brushes he will feel frustrated, if john can access all equipment he will feel in control of his own actions building his

confidence and give him  a taste of being self sufficient.  To be able to do a task for himself that is usually done for him will give him a huge boost of pride. Layout has to meet needs of all children, those with extra needs and those without. If Zoe cant use her hands to paint she should be able to paint like her piers using her feet.
