How does the rest of the world feel about the "redeem team?"?

Obviously they're good. The US basketball team is pretty handily going to win the gold. What do you think when you see all their highlight real worthy plays and blowouts?

their suffocating defense is what'll guarantee them the gold. they've consistently put up a stifling defense against their counterpart, which resulted to turnovers which resulted to some of the mind bobbling highlight reels in the 08 olympic tournament. honestly, it bores me to watch their games cause all are blowouts, but you'll really feel from these blowouts how much effort they've put up for this tournament. my favorite highlight so far is the alley oop save of dwade to kobe. man, that was something!

They are a gold medal team BUT i cant see them taking the gold sure they are unbeaten but they think they are unbeatable when they clearly are not i think that the Australians could knock them off tonight so dont be suprised if they dont win gold silver or bronze

It is a different time now than it was when the Dream Team ruled the Olympic courts.  The last couple of teams that the US has put out have been way to focused on Offense and that is why they sucked so much.  Finally they have shifted their focus to defense and now they are doing good.  They have also learned that in international play, one man can't run the show.  Sometimes in the NBA players will back down from the star on defense and let him do whatever he wants.  The refs also let players in the NBA get away with a lot more.  But finally we have a team that is able to compete and not look like fools in front of the whole world.

We don't see it.  No one cares for them outside of the United States, and even in the United States they only get less than 5 minute replays on sports shows. The NBA has stated themselves they could care less about the Olympics and the only reason most of the players are on the team is because of self-interest and not for the benefit of the country as a whole. When it comes to patriotism for their own country, the USA doesn't even begin to compare to other countries in the Olympics, even the countries with a medal count of under 10 show more pride for their country.

Also, the only reason its a 'redeem team' is because it was pretty evident no one cared for the United States basketball standings until now. They had a poor show last olympics, the FIBA competition, and World tournament when you take into account how much talent is/was on those teams. Teams like Spain, Greece, Argentina, and possibly even Italy have caught up and probably still play better than the United States as a team and I wouldn't be surprised if the United States fell short of Gold again.
