....taken by a 2.0 MP Digital Camera?

The Scenario: My good 7 MP digital camera is unavailable at the moment and I need to be able to take pictures. I have only two options as I see.

1) Use my antiquated 2.0 MP Fujifilm FinePix 2600 digital camera.

--or--

2) Run down to my local CVS and buy some "high-quality" "high-definition" film and a cheap $10 camera.

Which option will give me better quality, larger size pictures?

  1. Film of course.

  2. A lot of National Geographic photographers still use film cameras. I'm imagine part of that is because they're familiar with film but it's also because film still takes superior images.

  3. First off, use film. If you want better photos get 100 speed film. 400 speed is a bit more grainy and really only applicable in low light or sports applications.

If you can, buy a older used film SLR or rangefinder at your camera store or pawn shop (many pawn shops have some quality film cameras for little $$).  That way you get a decent lens, instead of some plastic piece of junk. I've seen plenty of nice quality used Nikon or Canon film SLR + lens for under $50.

2 MP with an old Fuji lens will take about as lousy photos as my old 2 MP Agfa.
