The solar winds affect the magnetosphereof the earth which is a layer of charged particle that surrounds the Earth. When the Solar Winds try 2 enter the Earth's atmosphere, then the magnetosphere of the Earth stops it. On reacting with the layers of magnetosphere, the chemical in the Earth's atmosphere get charged and present a light show at the poles known as 'Auroras'. The one that is seen at the North pole is Aurora Borealis and the one 2 b seen at South pole is called Aurora Australis. These Solar Winds can b effective enough to conduct a power cut all round Earth. The most affective of the solar winds cause  the Auroras that can b visible till the Equator. Several lights in the auroras depict the various elements involved.

i think you have done a mistske by eritting solar wind it is solar rays.i m sure it does not effect the earth,but beacause of it we get warmt,light.......
