How does the sound you hear from the saxophone come from the reed?

All i know is that the sound comes form vibration but i dont understand how that works.

  1. Ever wondered why connecting two cups together by string you can hear the other person talking? Like it said it all comes to do with vibrations.

    Vibrations are basically aound signals that can be harnessed to produce sound later on in he system. As the vibrations travel down the saxophone they become converted once again to sound waves which are channelled through different holes and thingies to produce different sounds. Buttons at the bottom o the saxophone make sound deeper because the intensity and wave length of the sound wavesare much slower and longer while the buttons at the top produce high sounds for the opposite reason.

  2. The reeds vibration causes the air column in the tube to vibrate at a certain given pitch. As the tube lengthens (e.g. a longer tube in general, or closing holes, the air vibrates for a longer duration per vibration causing the given pitch to sound. The octave key causes a spliting of the air column that creates the first overtone in the series to sound for all of the fundamental notes below.
