  1. Aslan dies to atone for the wrongs commited by Edward, the youngest boy.  After he has been slain by Evil incarnate, he rises from the dead.  The White Witch is the symbol of evil (Satan) and Aslan is the symbol of good as well as the symbol for Christ, the Lion of Judea.  Each of the children is given a gift to do good with and each of those objects is a symbol of good.  The castle of the witch is a symbol of evil.  The beavers are simple, good folk, who are necessary for good to triumph over evil. Edward is seduced by evil but is redeemed by Aslan.  Hope this helps.  You're talking about one of my favorite books.
