  1. they don't know but they expect that u wud do that after being requested a few times.

  2. Because it would interfere with their radios if it weren't turned off.

  3. They dont know they just ask that you do.

  4. They don't know it at all. It must be everybody concern for safety reason. It is truly, the phone signal can interfere navigation system as the frequency very close. You don't want your plane be in trouble anyway.

Also above there actually no signal from our telephone provider. Thus the mobile phone will continually transmitting signal, searching for network connection. That's why it's better to switch off it. Safe flight, safe for everybody.

  5. Sometimes they don't, but sometimes they can hear a buzz in their headsets.  On some aircraft, it makes the navigation needles go crazy.  It just depends on how old the aircraft is, and what avionics and antennas are installed.  It usually affects the newer aircraft more.

  6. I'm a pilot and I usually forget to turn my phone off.. same goes for my captains that i fly with.. ive never seen anything crazy going on in the cockpit as a result.. flight attendants have no idea if youve turned off your phone or not.. at most, the pilots hear a buzzing noise in their headsets.. however, it is a good idea to turn your phone off in flight because they eat up the battery trying to search for a signal.. its very possible to go on a 4 hour flight with a fully charged cell phone and land with a completely dead cell phone..
