  1. uv rays penetrate skin and your blood reacts with the photons of light and makes certain chemicals which are bassicly vitamin D , note* that the sun does send vitamin D in the form of rays, your own blood converts the light so to speak , although you can get vitamid d suppliments these arnt the same as the light vitamin D and they can be toxic, fact* noone can or ever has died from too much vitamin d from the sun, because the body can regulate how much it wants to produce, its kindof like photosythesis really.


  2. Sun or its rays do not have vitamin D at all. The Sun rays helps to synthesize(produce) Vitamin D on your skin. Further, It is absorbed by your body. The lipids(oils) on your skin act as a raw material and has ability to make vitamin D but they can not synthesize without sun rays or UV rays.
