  1. revenue from tickets, food and drink, memorabilia and apparel, sponsors, and TV commercials/ratings etc.


  2. From the betting on the races.  A certain amount is set aside for purses.

  3. Casinos!  The horsemen get a cut as do the owners of the track.  Although not everyone likes the Casinos - they may have saved the industry on the day-to-day level

    Depends on certain races some owners put some in from Namnainting them in to it also.



    Like say Calif bred horses they pay some money when the colt is born, and then every yr after, if he does stay sound and can run he is in the race, and then the race track puts in the rest throe Betting



    Most states have incentives like that to bring better horses to their tracks ,And keeping them there,

    some will say and added money ,

    When horses enter a race they pay into it , some of that goes to the purse also,,
