  1. sonar net and regular patroling...

  2. It isn't really a great concern anymore.

During the cold-war there were alot of anti-submarine patrolls carried out both by American subs and surface ships.  I assume these patrolls still take place to some extent simply to give out subs something to do to keep the crew in shape when they aren't being used in the Persian Gulf or Strait of Taiwan.

If there were a credible sub threat expected, patrolls would be carried out by L.A. class hunter-killer subs, various classes of surface vessels, and Orion Anti-Sub aircraft.

Oh yeah, and there is the NATO sonarbouy network still left over from Cold War days.

  3. can't tell you...its classified

  4. by overcharging the american people for every frigging thing we buy!!!  And using the money to make it look like they're actually protecting us!!!  If they were protecting us 9/11 would've never happened!

  5. Our bad butt navy has radars, sonars and infer red lasers.

  6. I'm going to guess that they have sonar bouys floating around.

  7. Entering to others' lands and sea areas first!!!

  8. There's a system of hydrophones fixed on the ocean floor off Alaska, California, Hawaii, Maine, Greenland and Iceland.  This system is called SOSUS.  These hydrophones can easily access the ocean's deep sound channel where sound carries for thousands of miles.

We can easily track any submarine that approaches North America.

This system used to be classified SECRET many years ago.  It's been unclassified for at least 20 years that I know of.

There also a system called SURTASS.  This system consists of a small, stealth designed vessel towing a very long cable with a series of hydrophones at the end.  The cable is miles long and can be lowered down into the ocean's deep sound channel where sound carries for thousands of miles.

It's a very interesting system.  You can read about it here.

  9. I can't tell you...I know you want to drive your sub in there and create havoc.
